The romantic route to California, New York to New Orleans, connecting with the Sunset Limited. Via the Southern and two other railroad lines, so it may not exactly be through service -- though they claim an Annex Car for the Sunset Limited, and that might get switched without your having to leave it. That's the front end of a steam locomotive coming out right at you. Wikipedia says, " The Southern's famous Crescent was introduced in 1891 as the Washington and Southwestern Vestibuled Limited and widely known as The Vestibule." Didn't know that!
Published in an unidentified magazine in 1899.
