The story of its creation, somewhat as an alternative to THE CRAFTSMAN, is covered in Marilyn Fish's article "The Craftsman Index" in ARTS & CRAFTS QUARTERLY Vol. 7 #2 (1994), and probably in the background article accompanying her published index to THE CRAFTSMAN magazine (not seen).
