Travel and Regional Magazines
People have been reading about distant places and imagining what it would be like to travel there since long before the advent of magazines. The happy combination of inexpensive printing and good photo or engraving reproduction resulted in increasing interest in travel as a subject for magazine articles, culminating in specialized magazines about travel itself. Regional magazines are those centered about some locality, usually with a big dose of boosterism and articles about why the reader should travel there. Often these contain lots of land and housing advertisements as well.
