Spicy Pulps

There were plenty of pulp and pulp-like magazines that used sex as a marketing tool, whether explicit (and sold under the counter) or just as a theme. A lot of them ran only one or a few issues and were published by fly-by-night operators, but others lasted for years and anchored large publishing companies.
