Vanity Fair

A new kind of magazine, with the glossy fascination with fashion and dress of some of the women's magazines, but with features and world-views intended to appeal to rich men as well. VANITY FAIR, a creation of Condé Nast and his editor Frank Crowninshield, rapidly became an arbiter of taste and style among the wealthy and the wannabe. Tom Pendergast described it in 2000 as a major departure.
