Western Electric Sturtevant Vacuum Cleaners -1912A

Looking like something out of a steampunk fantasy, this strange machine is an early vacuum cleaner. Note that it's plugged into a lamp socket, since at this point most homes didn't have wall sockets built in. She must be pushing the hose forward, and her carpets have an exceedingly high amount of dirt on them; but never fear. Published in the April 20, 1912 issue of the SATURDAY EVENING POST.
